Sarah Powell- Trainer

Sarah, is a certified dog trainer, and has spent her life loving dogs! She began working professionally with dogs in 2013 by working in daycare and volunteering at her local shelter. In 2015, Sarah started dog training and has learned from different mentors and conferences over the years.arah’s knowledge comes by learning from Larry Krohn, Jay Jack, Denise Fenzi, Michael Shikashio, and more! She has managed her own training business since 2018 and managed a training facility in Louisiana as well.

Sarah is a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, supporting the idea that dogs can happily be trained in many ways. Sarah has her training certification through Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers and is also an AKC Evaluator. She is also a veterinary assistant at our local vet office, Huntington Veterinary Hospital.

Sarah has five personal dogs that she enjoys to train and she casually competes in dog sports with them. Her Border Collies love to play disc, barn hunt, dock diving and agility. Sarah has a history of fostering dogs with severe behavior issues and she finds the hard cases the most rewarding. When she isn’t training, she would prefer to be hiking!

Her methods are personalized for each individual dog and she strives to make the relationship stronger between dogs and their owners. Sarah has a strong belief in loving our dogs for being exactly what they are, not what we want them to be! One of Sarah’s favorite training quotes, by Chad Mackin, is “Your dog is not BEING a problem, your dog is HAVING a problem.”
